Zyxel GN650-T Gigabit PCI Ethernet Adapter

His back aching, his feet bruised and bloody, the Seeker planted his staff in a crag and forced himself another step along in his journey. More sharp, pitiless rock loomed before him. How long had he been climbing this slope – hours, days, years? No matter. The truth must be found.

He topped a small plateau in the mountainside and was already beginning the grim climb further upward when he saw it, off to his left: an opening in the rock face. Dark but ringed with a faint green light, it could only be the cave of the Knower. Relief, euphoria, awe, anxiety – all shot through the Seeker's weary, trembling frame. At last, his question would be answered.

Deep inside the cave, there sat the Knower. Ageless, tireless, seated next to a golden brazier holding a dazzling green flame, he spoke. "Stranger, step forward and find the knowledge you seek."

The Seeker took a deep breath and, almost involuntarily, it all tumbled out. "OK, let's say I've got an older motherboard that doesn't come with any Ethernet ports. Or, like, my motherboard does have onboard Ethernet, but it's really crappy, or it breaks or something. And let's also say I've only got, like, ten bucks to spend, so I can't just get a new motherboard. What then shall I do, O Knower?"

Without a hint of expression on his face, the Knower replied. "Look deep inside yourself. Only there will you find answers."

"Uh, no, seriously, that's no help," the Seeker countered, a hint of irritation in his voice. "I need a real answer here."

After a pause weighted with tension and coated in a thick layer of mystery, the Knower dropped the fortune-teller act and leveled with the Seeker. "Well, you should pick up the Zyxel Gigabit PCI 10/100/1000 Adapter. It's just $9.99 postpaid from Woot right now, and it delivers Gigabit Ethernet speed without too much muss or fuss. There's a bunch more crap about it, like standard-based 10/100/1000 scalability and support for IEEE-based VLAN and QoS, but damned if I know what all that means."

Warranty: One year

Features:
High Performance Gigabit Connections - By providing ten times the speed of traditional Fast Ethernet adapters, with standard-based 1000Base-T connectivity the GN650-T can instantly and cost-effectively improve applications response, server reliability, and network scalability.

Easy Network Migration - The GN650-T features auto-sensing 10/100/1000 Mbps over existing Cat-5 cabling. The automation of changing and adjusting speed let you go to Gigabit without re-wiring the copper infrastructure you already have. The flexibility allows easy migration to faster network with current cabling as your network grows.

Application Flexibility - The compliance of PCI 2.2 makes GN650-T ideal for the 64bit/66MHz bus system, which combines the largest data path so the bandwidth can reach gigabit. The GN650-T is also fully compatible with 32bit and 33MHz PCI bus, making them fully backward compatible with legacy desktops and providing the fastest possible bandwidth.

Security and Performance - The VLAN feature offers the benefits of both security and performance. VLAN is used to isolate traffic between different users and thus provides better security. Limiting the broadcast traffic to within the same VLAN broadcast domain also enhances performance.

Lower Support Cost - The GN650-T supports Wired for Management (WfM) 2.0. Network administrator can monitor the network remotely as well troubleshooting. No truck-roll requires and decreases supporting cost.
